mumbai blast, mumbai firing, mumbai terror attack, breaking news mumbai - 26th November 2008

mumbai blast, mumbai firing, mumbai terror attack, breaking news mumbai - 26th November 2008

In one of the ugliest and deadliest blast and terror attack in mumbai today more then 70 people were killed in terror attack. I am sitting in front of TV and watching news regarding this attack. Three of major Ats officers were killed in this blast. I am writing this on my Blog news Blog. This attack was mainly held on Taj hotels, CST (VT Station) And Oberai hotels, Nariman point.

Ats has lost Ashok kamte, Hemant karakare and Vijay salaskar is been killed in this attack.

Grenade and gun attacks erupted today across Mumbai, India’s financial capital, killing 70 and injuring at least 200, the Press Trust of India said. Shots were reported near luxury hotels and one of the city’s main rail stations.

The Times of India newspaper, quoting unidentified hospital sources, said the death toll could reach 80, with 250 hurt. Press Trust of India said there were 60 dead and 200 injured at St George’s Hospital in south Mumbai. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Police ringed the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Trident and Oberoi hotels and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in the south of the city, NDTV reported.

“Some terrorist incidents are happening, some grenades were lobbed,” A.N. Roy, director general of police for Maharashtra state, said in a telephone interview. “Give us some time to get a clearer picture.”

Police said the two attackers at the Oberoi had escaped, Times TV reported. Two suspected terrorists were subsequently killed when driving away from the direction of the Oberoi, Times TV reported. There was no one other than the two in the car, Times TV said. It wasn’t clear whether any guests remained inside the hotel, Times TV said. Police didn’t say whether the two men were the terrorists who attacked the Oberoi, it reported.

Times TV also reported a blast at the rooftop of the Taj hotel, located near the Gateway of India in the Colaba area.

Railway Terminus

Shootings also took place at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, formerly known as Victoria Terminus, CNN-IBN television said. There were reports of explosions and continued firing, the channel said. Shootings also took pace outside Café Leopold and at the Taj Mahal hotel, both in the Colaba tourist area of south Mumbai, CNN-IBN reported.

“We are all fine and safe within the hotel,” said a Taj employee who answered the telephone at the hotel. “I can’t say anything more since we are still collecting information, and are all busy.”

Multiple attacks have rocked India’s cities this year with bombs planted in markets, theaters and near mosques. While previous attacks have been blamed on foreign terrorists, police arrested members of the Indian Mujahadeen after a shootout in Delhi in September.

Broken Windows

The two attackers at the Trident hotel had entered one of the hotel restaurants and said they were looking for U.S. and British nationals, the channel said. They had taken about 15 people hostage, an eyewitness told Times TV.

There was an explosion near a junction in Vile Parle, near the airport, Times TV said. The remains of a taxicab were strewn at the blast site, television pictures showed. Another explosion was reported at Mazgaon dockyard road in a taxi, PTI said.

The government has previously blamed terrorist attacks on organizations linked to foreign powers, without offering evidence or making arrests. Local media often blame the attacks on groups backed by Pakistan or Bangladesh, without identifying the security officials who provided the information.

Delhi Blasts

The capital New Delhi was rocked by five blasts during an evening rush hour in September, killing as many as 26 people and injuring about 133. Police defused two bombs in the Connaught Place area and one near India Gate. Indian Mujahadeen, which claimed responsibility for similar attacks in Ahmedabad and Jaipur, said it was behind the blasts.

Police killed two suspected terrorists Sept. 19 in a gun battle in the Jamia Nagar area and arrested five people in connection with the blasts. Three of the arrested men belong to Indian Mujahadeen, police said.

Sixteen bombs exploded in Ahmedabad within 20 minutes late on July 26, a day after seven bombs tore through India’s technology hub of Bangalore, killing two. At least 20 devices hidden in cars and garbage cans were discovered and defused in the Gujarat city of Surat, days after the Ahmedabad blasts.

Google Toolbar In Google Chrome Browse - The Real Story

Google Toolbar In Google Chrome Browser - The Real Story

I don’t have any figures, but I fishy it’s an anodyne bet that Google’s most broadly-worn application to date is the Google Toolbar. It’s offered for IE and Firefox, and integrates whichever of those browsers with multiple Google military, with Gmail, online Google Bookmarks, and Google Maps. It’s also got other close skin like a denote director, a form stuffing, and the ability to convey relations to pages via Gmail or SMS.

You might fake that Google’s new Chrome browser would come with Toolbar built in–or even if it didn’t put all its skin into the browser in toolbar form, reproduce some or all of them elsewhere in the line. Nevertheless based on my first connect of hours with Chrome, it looks like just about nothing of Toolbar’s features are presented in Chrome. Even ones that seem like naturals, such as swift access to your Gmail inbox and Google Bookmarks.

How about installing Toolbar in Chrome? Chrome has a framework for extensions, so I thought it was probable that I could do so. I visited the Toolbar download page, and noticed that it seemed to think I was with Firefox. Nevertheless I tried besides, and was sent to a page that asked me to match to the Toolbar terms and conditions before installing. I did so. And at that goal, I got this memo:

In other language, not only is there no Toolbar for Chrome, but the Toolbar download place gets entirely flummoxed when you break it in Chrome; it shows no cipher that it knows that Google has a browser of its own.

One of the most fascinating gear about Chrome is the promise it opens for Google greatly to integrate its host services with a browser in a way that’s never been done before. Depending on your outlook, that’s whichever tremendously exciting or kind of daunting. (Or, come to think of it, both.) Getting access to Google Toolbar’s features in Chrome, one way or another, would be neither exciting nor menacing–just useful. I faith it happens quickly–and that Google fiddles with the Toolbar download position to at slightest acknowledge Chrome’s life…

Abhinav Bindra Won Gold In Beijing 2008 olympic games For India

Abhinav Bindra Won Gold In Beijing 2008 olympic games For India

India's ace shooter Abhinav Bindra created history by winning the first ever individual Olympic Gold Medal for the country. It's Abhinav Bindra, Abhinav Bindra all over the Beijing shooting range. Abhinav won the gold in 10m Air Rifle event. Abhinav Bindra scored 700.5 points in the final.

Although India had won 8 gold medals in Olympics hockey, it never won any individual gold medals. This is the first time any Indian won a gold medal in an individual event. The last time India had won an Olympic gold medal was in 1980 Moscow Olympics where the hockey team had claimed the gold. The entire country erupted into joy and celebration when the reports of Abhinav Bindra's great victory flashed across the television channels.

It has been a great moment for all Indians that have been dreaming for this for decades. Emotions were high in India, as tearful people stood up when the national anthem was played in the Olympic Stadium at Beijing.

President Pratibha Patil, PM Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, BJP leader LK Advani, Sports Minister MS Gill, IOA President Suresh Kalmadi and all leaders and high level sports officials have congratulated Abhinav Bindra for making the country proud. Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh announceda cash reward of Rs. 10 lakh for Bindra. Haryana government has announced a cash reward of Rs. 25 lakh for Abhinav Bindra. In addition, he will get rewards worth Rs. 5 lakh from MP government and a 'lifetime golden pass' from Indian Railways.

The Punjab government will give Rs. 1 crore to Abhinav Bindra for his marvelous feat. It was announced by Punjab CM Prakash Singh Badal. The Bihar government has announced a cash reward of Rs. 11 lakh for him. Bihar Government will also name a sports complex after Bindra. Cricket Board BCCI has also announced a cash reward of Rs. 25 lakh for Abhinav Bindra.

Abhinav Bindra owed his gold medal to his parents, family and coaches. After winning the gold medal, Bindra said that he hopes that his medal would change the face of Olympics Sports in India. He also said that he became very aggressive, as he had entered the final as fourth. A proud nation salutes its great Hero. Hats off to Abhinav Bindra!

Lets Have a look at his profile:

Abhinav Bindra's profile

Abhinav Bindra made a junior world record score of 597/600 in 2001 Munich World Cup and won bronze; gold in 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games; became the first Indian shooter to win a World Championship gold; Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2001.

  • Abhinav Bindra is the brightest star among a new breed of talented Indian shooters. Born on September 28, 1983, Bindra is quite often criticised for not delivering on the promise he showed as a child prodigy.
  • Coming from an affluent family and with the luxury of an indoor range in his backyard, Bindra proved to an early bird and, at 15, was the youngest participant at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. Bindra shot into limelight by winning a bronze in the 2001 Munich World Cup with a new junior world record score of 597/600.
  • In the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games, competing in his pet Air rifle event, Bindra won Gold in the Pairs event and Silver in the individual event. During a purple patch, Bindra won six gold medals at various international meets in the European Circuit in 2001. He was conferred the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award for the year 2001.
  • In the 2004 Athens Olympics, despite breaking the Olympic record Bindra failed to win a medal. But on July 24, 2006, Bindra became the first Indian shooter to win a World Championship gold in Zagreb. Karni Singh's silver in 1962 was the previous best by an Indian in a World Championship meet.

Los Angeles Earthquake Goes Till San Diego -

Los Angeles Earthquake Goes Till San Diego

A moderately powerful earthquake struck southern California few hours ago. Though originating from the Chino Hills, it shook buildings 30 miles away in Los Angeles.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake initially measured 5.8 on the Richter scale -- comparable to the aftershocks of the massive earthquake that hit central China in May.

Those aftershocks destroyed some 70,000 already-shaken and poorly-constructed buildings, but early anecdotal reports -- largely from users of social networking platform Twitter -- suggest that damage is minimal.

The USGS later downgraded the quake to 5.4 in magnitude.

The quake was not likely not produced by tectonic shifting underneath the the San Andreas fault, but the lesser-known Elsinore fault.

The USGS aftershock warning map is here. If you have a first-person account of the quake, or any advice useful for people in the area, comment away.

Update: Here's a Google Map mashup of seismic events.

Update Two: A drop to 5.4 from 5.8 on the Richter scale might not seem like much, but the scale is set on a base-10 logarithm: a 5.0 quake is ten times stronger than a 4.0, so a .4 drop is significant.

17 BOMB BLASTS ROCK AHMEDABAD, 29 DEAD

17 BOMB BLASTS ROCK AHMEDABAD, 29 DEAD

Ahmedabad/New Delhi: A day after India’s IT city Bangalore was hit by nine low-intensity blasts, 17 similar explosions rocked Ahmedabad on Saturday evening, killing 28 people and injuring over 100 others.

SHOCKED AND STUNNED: All the blasts took place within 70 minutes of each other in a 10-km radius.

SHOCKED AND STUNNED: All the blasts took place within 70 minutes of each other in a 10-km radius.

All bombs were reportedly planted on bicycles and went off within span of 70 minutes of each other - between 1830 hrs IST and 1940 hrs IST - in various parts of the city.

Most of the blasts were reported from eastern Ahmedabad, in the upper-middle-class dominated areas of Bapu Nagar, Amraiwadi, Sarangpur, Jawahar Nagar, Narol Circle, Sarkhej, Isanpur and Haksar.

Most of these are crowded, congested areas, located within 10 km of each other.

Mapping the explosions

The first bomb exploded at a bus stand Mani Nagar area around 1835 hrs (IST). A black coloured Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle was found abandoned near the blast site in Mani Nagar, which is also the constituency of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

There was a second blast, also in Mani Nagar, inside the premises of LG Hospital. The bomb was reportedly placed under a red car, which caught fire as the bomb went off.

There was another blast in the premises of Vadilal Sarabhai Hospital.

Two blasts were reported soon after from Sarkhej. While the first was in a city transport bus, the other was reported from Sangam theatre.

Immediately after there were two blasts in Bapu Nagar - one outside the railway station, the other inside a bus.

Some of the blasts took place in communally sensitive areas of the city, apparently aimed at creating panic but not really at causing causalities.

Gujarat on alert

The civic authorities immediately suspended the services all state-run transport buses plying in the city. Mangled remains of a bus, cycles and motorcycles and splattered blood were seen at the site of the blasts.

Gujarat has been put on high alert and security has been heightened across the state, particularly in state capital Gandhinagar.

Special police teams have been deployed at vulnerable places, Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah told journalists.

Initial intelligence inputs suggest a couple of bombs were reported to have been placed in tiffin boxes, in a modus operandi similar to the explosions outside a Lucknow court last year.

The scene outside civil hospital was chaotic with people thronging the hospital even as ambulances with sirens were seen driving between them.

Forensic personnel could be seen scurrying through the blasts' scenes even as policemen tried to maintain a cordon.

Terror mail

Minutes before the blasts, the Intelligence Bureau and various media houses received an e-mail from a little known group that called itself the Indian Mujahideen, warning of a possible attack.

This is the same "outfit" that claimed reponsibility for the blasts in Uttar Pradesh in 2007 and the Jaipur blasts in May 2008.

The group had e-mailed video clips to two Delhi-based media organisations of a bicycle which it said was purportedly packed with explosives used in the blasts.

Investigators say the Indian Mujahideen could be a home-grown terrorist outfit that could be aided by foreign hands.

Reactions, condemnations pour in

Union Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal said, "The blasts seem to be along the lines of yesterdays Bangalore blasts. It is a conspiracy to unsettle the country. All metros are on a high alert. Coordinator of the United Christian Forum for Human Rights Father Cederic Prakash also appealed for calm.

"I sympathise with those affected. Every single member of civil society should maintain peace and communal harmony," Prakash says.

The serial bomb blasts in Ahmedabad come just a day after a series of blasts rocked Karanataka capital Bangalore. In Bangalore, too, nine low-intensity blasts had taken place on Friday afternoon killing two people and injuring six others.

All the blasts took place within 15 minutes of each other.

Bangalore: At least two persons died and six were injured when eight blasts triggered by a timer device hit Bangalore's central business district and other crowded areas.

Bangalore City Police Commissioner Shankar M Bidari and Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta confirmed that seven blasts shook Bangalore.

The first blast took place near Madiwala checkpost at around 1330 hrs IST with Additional Commissioner of Police, Bangalore, Gopal Hosur, confirming that a timer device was used to trigger the blasts.

All the blasts took place with 15 minutes of each other.

The crude bombs, stuffed with nuts and bolts, exploded at Madiwala, Adugodi, Nayandahalli, Pantharapalya and Vittal Mallya Road.

Laxmi, a garment factory worker, was killed while waiting at a bus stop in Madiwala on the Bangalore-Hosur Road. Her husband and another person were seriously injured.

The other dead person has been indentified as Anbu, a labourer.

Police claim to have recovered gelatin sticks, mainly used in quarry operations, from one of the blast sites.

Bomb disposal squads have been rushed to the blast sites and telephone network have been jammed to stop the spread of rumours.

Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar M Bidari said, "We are monitoring the situation and request all residents to continue with their normal routine. The bomb squad and explosives experts are on the spot. We will deal with the situation."

All the injured have been taken to Mallya Hospital near Rajaram Mohan Rai circle.

Bangalore was rocked by a major terrorist attack in December, 2005 when some unidentified extremists opened fire in the Indian Institute of Science complex killing an Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi professor MC Puri.

Bomb disposal squads and forensic experts have rushed to the blast spots for investigations.

UPA Government Wins Trust Vote In Lok Sabha - NDTV.com

UPA Government Wins Trust Vote In Lok Sabha - NDTV.com

Tuesday, July 22, 2008 (New Delhi)
Dr Manmohan Singh on Tuesday night became the seventh Prime Minister in nearly three decades to win a vote of confidence in the Lok Sabha.

Of the 10 trust votes taken in the past 29 years, the government of the day won six. In two cases each, the incumbent prime ministers were defeated and resigned without facing the House.

The first time the need for a trust vote arose was in 1979 when Charan Singh was the Prime Minister after an earlier split in the Janata Party. Sensing he did not have the requisite numbers, Charan Singh did not even come to the House to face a confidence motion and resigned.

The next time a trust vote was moved in the Lok Sabha was a decade later when V P Singh became the Prime Minister in December 1989. He won but stepped down a year later after the Congress joined hands with the BJP to ensure his government's fall.

Chandra Shekhar, who succeeded Singh, won a trust motion in November 1990 but resigned five months later after the Congress party under Rajiv Gandhi withdrew its support to the government over spying charges.

P V Narasimha Rao won a confidence vote in July 1993. His government lasted a full five-year term.

H D Deve Gowda won a trust motion in June 1996 but lost in April 1997 when the Congress withdrew its support to his government.

I K Gujral, who succeeded Gowda, won a vote of confidence in April 1997 but resigned in November after losing majority support.

In 1996, Atal Behari Vajpayee resigned on the floor of the House before the confidence motion could be put to vote, admitting he did not have the numbers in his favour. However, he won a trust vote in May 1998 but lost a year later by a single vote after the AIADMK withdrew support.

Vajpayee thus became the only Prime Minister to have lost a confidence vote twice.

In 2004, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh did not have to move a confidence motion as he was assured of majority with outside support of the Left. The same Left now forced him to seek a vote of confidence after 50 months in power.

Thanking the UPA leadership and its constituents for a ''convincing'' victory in the trust vote, a beaming Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday night said whatever is necessary under the law will be done on charges of bribing MPs.

''Whatever necessary in accordance with the provisions of the law will be done,'' Singh said in the Parliament complex.

He was replying to a question on the cross-voting and charges of bribery.

The Prime Minister said ''these developments (bribery charges) made me extremly sad, if true,''. He said the government would cooperate to see that ''the truth is established''.

The Prime Minister said he was ''extremely grateful'' to the members of Parliament for giving ''a convincing victory''.

''This vote gives a clear message to the world that India's head and heart are sound and India is prepared to take its rightful place in the comity of nations,'' Singh said.

He particularly thanked UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, leaders of the UPA and all those who worked for the victory.

Spain Is 2008 UEFA Champions

Spain Is 2008 UEFA Champions

Final Score Germany 0 - 1 Spain

Spain have been crowned European champions for the second time as Fernando Torres's first-half goal in Vienna proved enough to defeat Germany in the final of UEFA EURO 2008™.

History an inspiration
Spain won their only previous piece of silverware in this competition in 1964 and had not been beyond the quarter-finals of any competition in 24 years, yet Luis Aragonés's men have chosen to use that history as an inspiration rather than a burden. After a strong start from Germany, seeking a fourth title themselves, Spain were the more dangerous side throughout an entertaining final at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion although it took just one goal – in the 33rd minute, courtesy of Torres's pace, perseverance and an unerring finish – to end their long wait.

Ballack boost
Germany received a significant boost before kick-off with captain Michael Ballack included despite a much-publicised calf problem and, perhaps buoyed by that news, Joachim Löw's team settled quickly. Much had been made of the contrast in styles between the two sides yet in the opening exchanges it was Germany whose passing looked crisper, Miroslav Klose and Thomas Hitzlsperger failing to make the most of glimpses of goal while Spain, shorn of four-goal leading striker David Villa due to a thigh injury, struggled to find their feet in a new 4-5-1 formation in which Cesc Fàbregas was rewarded for a fine semi-final display with a starting place.

Instinctive stop
As an indicator of the pattern of the match, however, Germany's bright start proved misleading. Spain soon worked their way into the contest, with Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann – becoming, at 38, the oldest player to appear in a UEFA European Championship final – forced into action for the first time in the 14th minute. Although his instinctive save came when his own defender, Christoph Metzelder, inadvertently deflected Andrés Iniesta's cross towards his own goal, Xavi Hernández's fine through-pass had unpicked the Germany defence and showed the Spanish were finding their feet.

Torres on target
Right-back Sergio Ramos was then allowed to cut inside and deliver a deep cross, Torres peeling away from Per Mertesacker to create space for the header only for the right-hand post to come to Lehmann's rescue. The warning signs were there for Germany, yet they failed to heed them and duly fell behind three minutes past the half-hour. Again Xavi was the architect, playing a pass in behind the Germany defence towards Torres, who outmuscled a hesitant Philipp Lahm and clipped the ball over the diving Jens Lehmann and just inside the far post. David Silva then volleyed over Iniesta's cross when given time and space inside the area as Spain threatened to increase their lead.

Spain openings
Spain had more openings in the early stages of the second half, Lehmann getting the merest of touches to Xavi's low shot before Ramos nearly guided in Silva's drive from the resulting corner. Yet a warning of the threat Germany still posed arrived on the hour, substitute Marcell Jansen and Bastian Schweinsteiger combining for Ballack to shoot centimetres wide. Klose then deflected a Schweinsteiger effort past the post and in response to Germany’s renewed menace Spain coach Luis Aragonés promptly introduced Xabi Alonso and Santi Cazorla in place of Fàbregas and Silva. The switches reinvigorated Spain instantly, Lehmann making sharp stops from Ramos and Iniesta while Torsten Frings blocked another Iniesta effort on the line.

Wild celebrations
As the final moved into the last 20 minutes, Spain had had seven shots on goal to Germany's one, yet with Germany having turned virtually one in two of their efforts on target into goals ahead of the final, that was scant consolation to Aragonés and his side. In the event Spain continued to carve out chances as the match reached its conclusion, Marcos Senna narrowly failing to apply the finishing touch to an unselfish header from substitute Daniel Güiza – but the celebrations would not be delayed much longer.

Mukesh Ambani House - Mukesh Ambani Home

Mukesh Ambani House - Mukesh Ambani Home

Mukesh Ambani’s house will be complete by January. Did I mention it’s a 27 floor tower? Perkins & Will provide the design.

I’ve seen that image weeks ago, not quite sure where I saw only when I visit archidose did I realize that I am missing the bigger picture, apparently this tower is more than a tower, according to source this 60-storey house is for just one family, well, technically speaking it is because India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani is going to fund this project with his own personal company’s money.

Okay, here are the facts that I gathered:

- 27 floors with an equevilent of 60 storeyed residence at 173.12 meters.
- 6 floors for parking, Mukesh’s family has 168 imported cars.
- Facilities for athletics and a swimming pool, and a health club.
- Helipad at rooftop

It is not really a house, I think most of the top floors will be occupied by the family members, the ground floor definately will be allocated for his business and possibly those above the ground floor will be offices and some residential apartments for his nearly 600 staffers that are expected to work in the building, e.g. security personal.

Mukesh Ambani is 14th in Forbes’ 2007 worldwide rankings with a net worth of US$20.1 billion. The building, already worth £500 million, could start a rush on skyscrapers, which is a very good sign for India, it is about time the rich people in India stop migrating and abandon their country, england is not home! With great powers and wealth comes great responsibility.

Source: http://blog.miragestudio7.com/2007/06/60-storey-tower-house-for-mukesh-ambani/

The 27-storey skyscraper being built in Mumbai by Mukesh Ambani, the richest person in India, could be the world's largest and costliest home with a price-tag nearing two billion dollar, according to Forbes magazine.

"When the Ambani residence is finished in January, completing a four-year process, it will be 550 feet high with 4,00,000 square feet of interior space," Forbes said in a report on its website.

Earlier in March, Mukesh Ambani was ranked as the fifth richest person in the world with a net worth of 43 billion dollars by the Forbes magazine in its annual list of world's wealthiest billionaires. While Lakshmi Mittal, who is an Indian citizen was ranked higher at fourth, he is a British resident. Among resident Indians, Mukesh was ranked at top.

"The only remotely comparable high-rise property currently on the market is the 70 million dollar triplex penthouse at the Pierre Hotel in New York, designed to resemble a French chateau, and climbing 525 feet in the air," Forbes said in its report titled, "Inside The World's First Billion-Dollar Home."

Mukesh Ambani heads India's most valuable firm Reliance Industries, an oil and petrochemicals giant.

"Like many families with the means to do so, the Ambanis wanted to build a custom home. They consulted with architecture firms Perkins + Will and Hirsch Bedner Associates, the designers behind the Mandarin Oriental, based in Dallas and Los Angeles, respectively," the report said. "Plans were then drawn up for what will be the world's largest and most expensive home: a 27-story skyscraper in downtown Mumbai with a cost nearing 2 billion dollars."

According to Forbes, Mukesh, along with his wife Nita Ambani and three children, currently live in a 22-story Mumbai tower.

The report further noted that the cost for the Ambani residence, called Antilla whose shape is based on Vaastu, would be more than a hotel or high-rise of similar size because of its custom measurements and fittings.

While a hotel or condominium has a common layout, replicated on every floor, and uses the same materials throughout the building, the Ambanis' home has no two alike in either plans or materials used, it said.

"At the request of Nita Ambani, say the designers, if a metal, wood or crystal is part of the ninth-floor design, it shouldn't be used on the eleventh floor, for example. The idea is to blend styles and architectural elements so spaces give the feel of consistency, but without repetition," it said.

"Atop six stories of parking lots, Antilla's living quarters begin at a lobby with nine elevators, as well as several storage rooms and lounges. Down dual stairways with silver-covered railings is a large ballroom with 80 per cent of its ceiling covered in crystal chandeliers."

The report said that Ambanis plan to use the residence occasionally for corporate entertainment also and they want its interiors to have a "distinctly Indian" look and feel.

"The top floors of entertaining space, where Ambani plans to host business guests (or just relax) offer panoramic views of the Arabian Sea... For more temperate days, the family will enjoy a four-story open garden," it noted.

Aishwarya Majmudar

Lets look at this talented singer's profile: (courtesy http://www.aishwaryamajmudar.com/aishwarya_majmudar.htm)

Aishwarya Majmudar, the little singer, has traveled a long distance in the world of music. Her love and passion for music led her into training in Indian Classical music at the tender age of five. In a very short span of time she has been able to accomplish her goals in establishing herself in the field of light and semi classical singing.

Her devotion and commitment has brought her laurels and acclaim in bagging awards at state and national level competitions.

Her maturity and versatility as a performer is audible and perceptible in her renditions of Bhajans (devotional songs), ghazals, old film songs or new catchy numbers. Her singing covers almost the entire spectrum of light and semi-classical songs. She has more than 80 live performances to her credit.

Aishwarya’s unbelievable understanding of music and extraordinary ability to perform classical and light vocal has brought her great praises from legendary artists like Ms. Usha Mangeshkarji, Ms. Meena Khedekarji, Shri Ronu Mazumdarji, Shri Ismail Darbarji, Ms. Alka Yagnik.

What started as a hobby during the family functions when she was barely three and a half years old eventually elevated her to serious stage and playback performances.

Till date she has stared the stage with playback singers like, Mr. Babul Supriyo, Ms. Shreya Ghoshal, Ms. Sunidhi Chauhan, Mr. Shaan and in Gujarati Sugam Sangeet. she has been performing with stalwarts like Shri Purushottam Upadhyay, Shri Ashit Desai, Shri. Parthiv Gohil, Ms. Falguni Pathak, Shri Uday Mazumdar.

Aishwarya’s passion for music impels her to do the daily riyaaz religiously, which has helped her to give solo programs of two hours at a stretch.

Aishwarya is selected the gifted child of Delhi Public School, where she is studying in Class 8th.
With strong embrace and guidance of Smt. Monica Shah, Aishwarya took her first steps in the musical arena and got interested in the fascinating musical career awaiting ahead.

Building the bridges with her initial career, she is now learning the singing technicalities, under the able guidance of her Guru Shri Purushottam Upadhyaya and Shri Ankitbhai Khandekar. With their assistance she has been able to carve a niche for herself in the music circuit.

Her childlike innocence is intact if you ask her of a particular favourite genre in singing. The response is quite professional - classical, ghazals, light playback, live performance….covering almost all.

But, then for those who have known her talent and potential this doesn’t sound too ambitious a goal to achieve.

40 Carat White Diamond Named Uncle Sam

40 Carat White Diamond Named Uncle Sam Who was been found In MURFREESBORO Park (aka crater of diamonds state park)

MURFREESBORO, Ark. - A Wisconsin man digging at an Arkansas diamond park with his fiancee Tuesday found a 3.92-carat white stone, but the rock will go into his collection because his betrothed already has a ring and a setting.

Eric Blake, 32, of Appleton, Wis., spotted the stone along a trail at the Crater of Diamonds State Park when he set down a 70-pound bucket of mud that he was carrying to a wash basin. "I put the bucket down to switch hands. I looked down and there it was," Blake said.

Blake found a 1.49-carat stone Monday. The larger one is big enough to fashion into jewelry but Blake hadn't decided whether he will have it placed into a setting. "I only found it an hour ago," he said.
Blake, a carpenter, said his grandfather had taken him to the state park about 15 years ago and that he returns two to three times a year. "We usually find something," he said.

His fiancee Susan Gabrielson — who has "only one carat on her finger" — her daughter Sayde and Susan's sister Sarah accompanied Blake to the park this week. Susan found a 1.47-carat stone and some smaller gems Monday.

"We're going back out today. We'll take a lunch and then go back into the field," Blake said.

More than 700 diamonds have been found at the park this year.
The Crater of Diamonds park is the world's only diamond-producing site open to the public and visitors can keep the stones they dig up. The largest diamond ever found in the United States, the 40-carat white diamond named Uncle Sam, was unearthed in 1924 at the Murfreesboro park.

Cubist Fernand

Cubist Fernand - Experimental museum of modern art comes to Frist Center

From the Smithsonian to the Art Institute of Chicago, museums have become the avenue through which we bestow cultural legitimacy on works of art — monolithic institutions with big front steps, security guards and brightly lit cafes serving overpriced sandwiches.

In 1920, however, Katherine Dreier, Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray established what was then — and still is — an entirely radical notion for a museum. Their organization, the Société Anonyme, was an "experimental museum" with no walls, no international boundaries and no art historians or critics serving as arbiters of quality or relevance. Their overarching goal: to create venues for, and foster appreciation of, modern art.

Opening Friday at Frist Center for the Visual Arts, The Société Anonyme: Modernism for America chronicles that remarkable experiment, which spanned three decades and grew to include more than 1,000 pieces of art. Featuring 197 paintings, sculptures and works on paper, along with 10 cases of ephemera documenting the organization's existence, the exhibit was organized by the Yale University Art Gallery and drawn from the school's impressive collection. Nashville is the traveling show's final stop before it returns to New Haven, Conn., early next year.

Collection defies expectations

Compared to other exhibits at the Frist Center, this one is unique in that it doesn't follow a linear stylistic or chronological trajectory, explains Frist curator Mark Scala.

"People have certain expectations of modern art, and this doesn't conform to those expectations. It's a reflection of the Société Anonyme's founding principle that modern art is not necessarily best understood as a sequence of styles, in which Impressionism leads to post-Impressionism, which leads to Expressionism, Fauvism, Cubism, Futurism and Dada.

"Société Anonyme was composed of artists (rather than art historians) who were more interested in capturing the vitality and the cross-stylistic conversations artists were having at the time. A lot of the work is not purely identified as one style or another: You can see Surrealist, cubist fernand and Impressionist influences all in the same work."

Artists span globe

If the Société Anonyme exhibit confounds viewer expectations, that's hardly a trade-off, given the vibrancy of the work, which includes pieces by Dreier, Duchamp and Man Ray, along with Wassily Kandinsky, Fernand Léger, Paul Klee and countless others who represented an international fellowship of modern artists. What's more, we're offered a vivid glimpse into these artists' milieu, a pivotal moment when the emergence of new ideas was unavoidably influenced and threatened by the instability of two global conflicts.

Exhibit curator Jennifer Gross, Seymour H. Knox Jr. curator of modern and contemporary art at Yale University Art Gallery, characterizes the Société Anonyme as "the collaboration of a generation of artists during a very dramatic time in the world economically and politically, in which they found a community based on a shared faith that modernism was a unifying cause in their fragmented society.

"World War II shattered and drove these artists all over the world, many of them into obscurity, whether that meant teaching at a community college in California or internment in a Nazi concentration camp. This collection held together all of these artists, and that's what's so extraordinary about it: We're not only seeing the highest-quality representations of the famous artists we know, we also see the work of remarkable artists who we've never heard of before."

Among that list of under-recognized artists are several women, such as the Austrian-born Erika Giovanna Klien, creator of wonderfully dynamic geometric abstractions, and the Russian cubist fernand influenced painter Nadezhda Udaltsova.

For Nashvillians who've been following the ongoing saga of Fisk University's Stieglitz Collection, the Société Anonyme exhibit also represents an opportunity to see work by some of the same artists included in that collection, among them Arthur Dove, Marsden Hartley and John Marin. It should be noted that there are considerable differences between these two groupings of art, but they are united by a common impulse, as Scala points out.

"Each of these collections was conceived and donated to a university as a way of giving an audience insight into modern art and its relationship with modern life."

United Nations Day 2007

24th October is Celebrated As United Nations (UN) Day In Whole World.

United Nations Day, proclaimed in 1948 by the United Nations General Assembly, is held annually on 24 October, the anniversary of the coming into force of the UN Charter on 24 October 1945. United Nations Day is devoted to making known to peoples of the world the aims and achievements of the United Nations Organization. United Nations Day is part of United Nations week, which runs from 20 October to 26 October.

United Nations Day has traditionally been marked throughout the world by meetings, discussions and exhibits on the achievements and goals of the Organization. In 1971, the General Assembly recommended that Member States observe it as a public holiday. Several international schools throughout the world also celebrate the diversity of their student body on United Nations Day (although the event is not necessarily celebrated on 24 October). Celebrations often include a show of cultural performances in the evening and a food fair, where food is available from all over the world. In Kosovo, United Nations Day is an official non-working day as the province is administered by UNMIK.

The UN’s World Development Information Day has been also been held on 24 October since 1972.

Sarah Welch (Bachelor) fell through a hole in a Los Angeles fashion

Sarah Welch (Bachelor) fell through a hole in a Los Angeles fashion

People falling down will always be a favorite Internet clip.

Pictures and videos of models online will always be a favorite search.

Mix up the two and you have close to perfect Internet entertainment, and that's exactly what happened when model Sarah Welch fell through a hole in a Los Angeles fashion show catwalk.

The proof is in the pudding, with more than 1 million views on YouTube by Monday afternoon after the video was posted on Thursday.

Thanks to a martial arts display, a gaping hole had been left in the stage, which Welch, a former contestant on "The Bachelor" reality series, didn't notice thanks to her model composure.

"As a runway model, you have to keep your head up, you know," she told KABC-TV. "So I didn't look down for a hole, particularly."

But despite her new internet fame, the model has a good sense of humor about the incident.

"It is just a really funny mishap. And I hope they're enjoying watching it just as much as I am," she said.

But does she beat our own Jennifer Hawkins in the runway disaster department? I think not...

'Preppy Killer' Convict Robert Chambers in Drug Bust

'Preppy Killer' Convict Robert Chambers in Drug Bust

Robert Chambers, the 41-year-old who made headlines as a York Prep kid in the 80's when he was convicted of manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old Jennifer Levin, has been busted again.

According to the Manhattan District Attorney's office, he and 39-year-old Shawn Kovell had been the target of a three-month investigation after "citizen complaints" that they were selling drugs out of an apartment they shared on East 57th Street.

It looks like they've got him dead to rights, too: "The investigation utilized surveillance techniques and an undercover detective to purchase quantities of cocaine directly from Chambers and Kovell near and inside their residence," the D.A.'s office announced in a press release.

They were arrested last night on multiple counts of felony narcotics sales after police turned up drug paraphernalia including crack pipes and "packaging materials" in the apartment.

The 14 counts Mr. Chambers is charged with carry sentences ranging from three and a half to 30 years in prison each.

The district attorney described a "violent struggle" during the arrest and did not rule out further charges coming from those.

Web 2.0 India - Top Ten Tips For Using Web 2.0 To Promote Your Business

Till now we heard a lot about "Web 2.0". It sounds neat and it's trendy to talk about blogging and social media. But does it really affect our businesses? Is Web 2.0 just for kids and tech-hipsters or is it something we business owners should use to help promote our businesses?

I can't tell you if Web 2.0 is right for your business, but I can tell you it's something to be aware of. Ignoring it means ignoring a possible tool that could be valuable in helping you get more customers.

So, to help you get started in thinking about Web 2.0 for your business, here are some things for you to consider.

1. Have a plan

Don't dive in just because it's cool or because you read an article about it. Be clear about what you're trying to accomplish, how much you're willing to invest and what time frame you are working on. Like any aspect of your business - plan ahead.

2. Make sure your target audience is online

Web 2.0 tools are fun but useless if the people who see your stuff don't want what you offër. Or if they don't look to the Web for information to help them buy what you sell, then your efforts will be less effective. Like any marketing channel, it only works if your prospective customers are there to see (or hear) your message and they are receptive to it.

3. Create good content

Web 2.0 is the social web, but it's still content-driven. Lousy content leads to lousy marketing, no matter how flashy it is. Make your content relevant, interesting and real. Put yourself in your customer's shoes and answer their questíons with your content.

4. Don't sell

Help, inform, educate but do not sell. Web 2.0 is all about people connecting by helping each other. No salesmen allowed! Think education, not advertising. Deliver useful, nuts and bolts stuff or honest opinions they can believe. That's how you build credibility and trust that lead to new customer relationships.

5. Start with a free hosted blog

Wordpress and Blogger both have very useful and simple blogs you can setup for frëe. Use them to start blogging and get a feel for how it works and how people use Web 2.0. Dip your toe in the water before diving in.

6. Talk to kids

Chat with some kids (ages 8 to 18) and find out how they use the web. They are the trend-setters. What they're doing now, the rest of us will be doing soon. Learn what they do and why. This helps you understand the web from a different perspective.

7. Do it yourself

Web 2.0 is about being real. It's real people connecting with each other. It's okay to hire a pro to advise you. But to keep it genuine, make sure you or your employees create the content and do the work. Otherwise people will know you're faking it.

8. Buy a camcorder and start shooting

Go to Best Buy or Radio Shack and buy an inexpensive camcorder, tripod and lapel microphone. Buy 20-30 tapes too. Then take a weekend and shoot film. Practice, practice, practice. Get comfortable being on camera so you're not nervous or dorky. Then, write a funny or useful how-to sketch and film it. Use Microsoft MovieMaker to edit and then upload to YouTube.com.

9. Buy an inexpensive audio recorder

MusicBarn.com has a package that includes M-Audio's MobilePre USB recording interface. Add a microphone and you have a high quality setup to record podcasts and MP3 audio files whenever you want. Then buy NGWave sound editing software to make it sound professional and you're in business.

10. Surf 'till it Hurts

Surf blogs, YouTube, Google Videos, Del.icio.us, Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Technorati and other social media websites. Get a feel for how they work and who goes there. Become part of some social media communities. Make new friends online. Immerse yourself in the Web 2.0 culture so you know how it works and if it might fit your marketing plans.

I thought this tips might help you to promote your business.

Best of luck and let your mind think what best suits your business
